Are there any Divas out there? (Bit of a rhetorical question, that – we saw loads of you at Pride!). If so, you may want to go and see how you measure up against some of the true icons of the term by seeing a new exhibition from the man who shaped the meaning of the word itself – Andy Warhol.
Salford’s Lowry Centre is currently showing a collection of his original silkscreens, photographs and film footage, featuring some of the world’s most iconic, flamboyant and desirable performers, including Grace Jones, Liza Minelli, Debbie Harry, Mick Jagger, Liz Taylor and of course, Marilyn Monroe.
The Diva as an Art Form
Having produced some of the world’s most famous artwork celebrating popular celebrity culture and glamour through the pop art movement, Warhol definitely knew what it took to be a diva.
This must-see exhibition, titled ‘Warhol and the Diva’ is on until the 25th of September, so there’s not ages left to catch it. You can find more info and directions to The Lowry at the official site as well as uploading yourself for your ’15 minutes of fame’ in their Diva Gallery!
If you’re in town to see it, you can rely on us to provide the perfect pillows to rest your Diva-ish head after a day/evening in Manchester. To arrange your stay in our luxury city-centre aparthotels, contact our reservations team.
