Next month, the city of Edinburgh will welcome performers from as far away as Africa and South America, to take part in one of the most recognisable and regal Scottish traditions – the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. 2011′s event will take place from the 5th to the 27th of August, culminating in the traditional and immensely moving performance by the ‘Lone Piper‘, high up on the castle ramparts.
One of Scotland’s most famous and long-running tourist attractions, the tattoo has been visited by over 12million people since its establishment over 60 years ago. This year’s event will be witnessed by more than 200,000 visitors and feature appearances by groups from numerous different nations, Her Majesty’s Royal Marines band, the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, highland dancers and the internationally renowned Massed Pipes and Drums group.
An Unforgettable Edinburgh Evening
This celebration of Scottish musical tradition will be an amazing spectacle of bagpipes, busbies, kilts and the castle, all conducted with military precision in the Tattoo’s new multi-million pound home. The purpose built arena, in the Castle Esplandade, is the perfect place to enjoy this memorable spectacle and will play host to spectators from all over the world.
