Edinburgh-phile Emma Ross is one of the newest (and friendliest) faces at our city centre aparthotels, but she’s certainly not new to Scotland’s capital. The knowledge she’s accumulated during the years she’s spent here encompasses everything from sustainability and supply networks to Scottish scenery and scary stories. Go on, ask her a question – she’s fine as long as the answer begins with ‘S’.
Hi Emma, how long have you been at Blue Rainbow’s Edinburgh ApartHotels? Were you aware of the company before working here?
I’ve been here since the middle of April, which is when I completed my university course. I actually lived in Manchester for a while a good few years ago, so I’ve known about Blue Rainbow since the start of their journey – maybe more than five years. It’s lovely to have them here in my favourite city.
As an experienced Edinburgh insider, what are your top tips to see/do in one of Europe’s top ten tourist destinations?
I fell in love with Edinburgh five years ago when I first volunteered during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August, and was determined to make it my home. Luckily, I was able to come to university and live here full time. The best thing about the city is the variety of things to do. Whether you’re after nightlife and theatre or more touristy destinations, there really is something for everyone. An obvious must-see is the castle but I would also really recommend renting a car and travelling further afield, as Scotland has such amazing scenery.
Some of the Manchester team have mentioned how good looking they are – how do you guys north of the border measure up by comparison?
Well, we all know how beautiful the Manchester team are(!) but I would say we have an equally attractive team here in Edinburgh, with something for everyone, haha! I’ve never worked with such a bubbly and energetic group before and I love the fact that we have quite a few new faces up here.
So you were a hard-working student before joining Blue Rainbow?
Yes, I was at uni studying ‘Events Management and Retail Management’, which I loved. I’ve just finished writing my dissertation specialising in ‘Sustainability within Supply Networks and Logistics’ if anyone is interested? No? Thought not…
Will give it a read later, promise! So, which special qualities do you bring to your new position?
Well, having lived here for four years and experienced Edinburgh as both a tourist and a local, I feel I’m able to offer some great advice on things enjoy during a stay. I’ve also worked as a tour guide on the famous Royal Mile itself, so I take great pleasure in filling guests in on all the ghost stories and scary tales of Edinburgh old town.
Who would be your dream Blue Rainbow ApartHotels guest?
Probably my mother, so she could see I actually have a real job and am not a student anymore!
Thanks Emma!
If you’re not Emma’s mum, probably the simplest and best way to get in touch and arrange your stay with Blue Rainbow ApartHotels is to contact our official reservations team.
