Sorry folks, he’s taken! This is our reservations executive Jorge Henriques, the man that makes our little corner of Manchester ever so slightly more European. During his time here, this Portuguese pro has become so good at hiding his depression at the English weather, that our guests rely on him for first-class service with a smile, from reservations enquiries to reception assistance. Apologies to him for pronouncing his name wrong so many times during the course of this interview process (Horgay, Yorg etc – sorry!)
Hi Jorge, how’s life at Blue Rainbow ApartHotels?
In one word; great. It can be a challenge, with the number of guest demands but we all do our best to meet them and I get a lot from achieving these aims.
So, how long have you been here and what had you been up to previously?
I’ve just completed my first year with Blue Rainbow, this month. My previous experience has always incorporated roles related to customer service, such as various positions within the hotel industry for six years and before that, working for P&O Ferries.
Now you’re a naturalised Manc, what’s your top tip for something to do for those coming to stay in the city?
Well, it all depends on the Manchester weather, haha – but drinks in Castlefield is a must. I’d also advise anyone to check the local events listings as there’s always a huge number of great bands or shows on at various venues all over the city.
What’s the best thing about working at Blue Rainbow?
The task variation. I work three days on reservations and two on reception – this makes my job more interesting as not only do I deal with guest bookings, I often also meet them personally. Plus, working with staff in both departments helps to keep us even more connected as a team – everyone here is fun and easy to work with.
If you were given the day off tomorrow, what would you do ?
I would spend it with my special someone, cook her dinner and then enjoy a relax evening at Blue Rainbow – taking advantage of our staff discount, haha!
Why do you think guests come back to Blue Rainbow?
There’s several reasons; our competitive rates, five-star product and service, friendly staff that are always willing to help – having a fully equipped apartment instead of just a basic bedroom for around the same price makes all the difference. In general our apartments are just fantastic to stay in.
When you plan a trip home to Portugal, what are you looking forward to most?
Firstly seeing my family and friends, then just enjoying the lovely weather, food and of course, the fantastic beaches Portugal has to offer.
Remembering your other half may read this – who would be your dream guest for a Blue Rainbow stay?
My dream guest is any that goes home with a smile on their face and says on departure that they’ll be back to stay with us next time they visit Manchester.
