Kris Locker is a dedicated member of Blue Rainbow’s brilliant reservations team. Like many of them, he’s not been with us too long, but his sense-of-humour and helpful, approachable nature have contributed to the group bonding and working so well together straight from day one. If you laugh at these answers, imagine what he said during the first attempt that we weren’t able to use!
Hi Kris, how are you finding life at Blue Rainbow?
In a non-cheesy way – amazing. Being that I’ve only worked here for five weeks and my past experience is totally different to hospitality, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so far. I have known the business since the start and seen it grow, both as a guest and friend of the directors. Now I’m actually working for the company I feel proud to be a part of it.
Like you said, you’ve only been here a few weeks – what were you doing before joining the team?
My previous job was as a liability handler for an insurance company. So although I’ve no ‘direct’ hospitality experience, I have acquired general customer service skills and a great telephone manner that have added to the service provided by the reservations team.
What’s your top tip to see/do during a Manchester visit?
As I have only lived in the city since starting work here, I’ve not seen a lot of sights apart from the bars, clubs and shopping, which are all fab. There’s never a dull moment here, but as time goes on Im hoping to get to go to the theatre, MEN Arena and experience some normal, sober sights around Manchester
What have you found to be the best thing about working at Blue Rainbow?
The passion the management have for their business gives the staff the drive to want to do their best. And, the whole team, from reservations, housekeeping, reception, and accounts – they’re all great people and we have a good laugh and a joke, as well as work well together.
And why do you think guests come back to Blue Rainbow ApartHotels?
I think it’s because of the good looking staff in the reservation team. They just can’t help themselves – we’re fighting them off at the door! Ok, on a serious note, I would say that when I was a guest, I was amazed by the standard of the apartments, the staff were always great and it’s so close to everything you need – pubs, clubs, shopping etc. (I know I sound like a drunken shopaholic but I’ve not had chance to see anything else of the city yet!).
What would you do if you were given tomorrow off work?
Head to Canal Street after a long lie- in and have a few beers with friends.
Who would be your dream guest for a Blue Rainbow stay?
Oooooooh I have so many for so many reasons – some I can’t put on here! But I would say, Zac Efron – in my world dinner, dinner, dinner, and we’ll say no more…
Thanks Kris!
