Join in St. Andrew’s Day Celebrations for Free this Weekend

Edinburgh AparthotelsOn Saturday and Sunday the 26th and 27th (this weekend as a matter of fact) Edinburgh’s world famous castle will be hosting the annual revelries to celebrate St. Andrew’s Day – the patron saint of Scotland.

Featuring a number of ‘fire and frost’ themed events, including a spectacular firework display, the weekend’s entertainment will take place on the Castle Esplanade over the weekend (Did we mention it’s this weekend?).

Basically, we’ve left it a bit late remind you, so here’s what you can expect in the form of some quick and easily chewable bullet points.

  • Live ice sculpting
  • Fire animation (we don’t even know what this is but it sounds exciting!)
  • Lantern parade
  • Stunning visual projections onto the castle
  • Aforementioned firework finale to round everything off

Best of all, it’s free! The only things you need to invest in are a warm coat and somewhere to stay for the weekend. *Cough* Did we mention our luxury city-centre aparthotels, just a few minutes walk from the Castle Esplanade? Still some availability, even at this short notice – why not be extra organised and cram in some early Christmas shopping while you’re at it?

By the way, if you didn’t know, St. Andrew (depending on who you believe) was a brother of St. Peter and was crucified on a diagonal cross as a christian martyr (hence the cross on the Scottish flag today). Some of his relics are still held in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh and his life and acts are celebrated in many countries throughout Europe – but none so spectacularly as Scotland, THIS WEEKEND – FOR FREE!
